Sauer Danfoss Piston Pump Startup Procedure
Sauer Danfoss Piston Pump Startup Procedure
1. Connect the hydraulic pump to the prime mover. Make sure the pump shaft is properly aligned with the prime mover's shaft. (Incorrect shaft alignment can cause damage to the drive shaft, bearings, or seals, resulting in external oil leaks.)
2. Fill the tank with the recommended hydraulic oil. Always filter fluid through the 10 micron filter that fills the tank. Never reuse hydraulic fluid.
3. Fill the main pump casing with clean hydraulic oil. Pour filtered oil directly into the uppermost case drain.
4. Fill the inlet line from the pump to the tank. Check that the intake line is properly tightened and that it is free of any restraints and air leaks.
5. To ensure the pump is always full of oil, install the case drain line in the uppermost case drain port.
6. Install a pressure gauge at the system pressure gauge port to monitor system pressure during startup. (Follow the recommendations in the vehicle/machine operator's manual for prime mover starting procedures.)
7. While observing the pressure gauge installed at the system pressure gauge port, jog the prime mover or run at the lowest possible speed until the system pressure rises to normal (11 bar [160 psi] minimum). Once system pressure is established, increase to full speed operation. If system pressure cannot be maintained, shut down the prime mover, determine the cause, and take corrective action. See the "Troubleshooting" chapter.
8. Run the hydraulic system for at least fifteen minutes under light load conditions.
9. After installation, check and adjust control settings as needed. See chapter "Adjustment".
10. Shut down the prime mover and remove the pressure gauge. Replace the plug gauge port at system pressure.
11. Check the fluid level in the reservoir; add clean filtrate if necessary. The hydraulic pump is now ready to run.
